Do you like gingerbread chalets? My today’s suggestion is a festive gingerbread house. Time spent on the preparation of such a house is pretty good fun, so I recommend it to everyone as an entertainment that appeals not only to kids. Knead an aromatic dough, prepare the frosting and it will bring you to the land of fragrant aromas of spices, in which the golden bells can be heard ringing and crackling snow can be seen around the alleys of colorful gingerbread chalets in a true winter coat!
The following recipe for gingerbread dough I have used since I started to bake - about 7 years ago. To me it is perfect and I never had the desire to experiment with other recipes, because this one always turned out as I expected. Gingerbreads with this recipe are slightly soft in the middle!
Ingredients for my favorite gingerbread dough:
- 2 glasses of plain flour
- 6 tablespoons of honey
- 3 / 4 glass of caster sugar
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 2 teaspoons of gingerbread spice
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 egg
Into sifted flour pour hot liquid honey and knead the dough with a spoon. Add sugar, baking soda, spices, butter and egg. Now knead the whole batter mix with your hands for smooth and soft dough. The dough is instantly ready to punch shapes out of it and bake it on a baking tray lined with baking paper!
Ingredients for frosting can be found in the post: Ginger - Cinnamon Cookies for Halloween!
Additionally:
- crystal sugar to sprinkle on the roof
- powdered sugar to sprinkle on the roof
Suggestions: you can also add a little cinnamon or your favorite extract to the dough. If the dough is sticky, add more flour to it, if it is too crumbly, add more honey. In the case of gingerbread, you don’t need to add the rum extract to the icing if you do not want to. If you want to sprinkle crystal sugar on the roof do it before the frosting hardens!
Question: How to measure honey with a mold without the honey sticking to the mold?
Answer: Before pouring honey into a measure mold grease it with a little oil or olive oil.
