Twisted Bread




This bread is very similar to previous one without cocoa powder. You can make it more or less sweet if you want. Moreover, its preparation time is sooo easy, that`s why even people who don`t like baking can have their own home made bread. 





Ingredients for one or two loaves:

  • 10g dried yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 300g buttermilk
  • 500g plain flour
  • 25g of olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa

Yeast, sugar, buttermilk and oil mix together until dough will be elastic. Divide it into two parts. For one add cocoa and kneed it again. Both parts leave in the warm place to double in volume.


When the dough doubled its volume, roll out both parts separately. Then, on the bright part place the dark one and roll it up together. Put this into lined with baking paper baking tin and bake at 200C for about 30 minutes.





Suggestions: After 25 minuts of baking check whether the cake requires a longer baking time. This bread can also be easily transformed into a sweet one. Just add about 1 / 2 - 3 / 4 cup of sugar to the dough, instead of a one spoon. Dried yeast can substitute by fresh (just 40g).


Version Light: Don`t add sugar. Use skimmed milk instead of buttermilk.
